Smithsonian Folk Life Festival

Thursday, Jun. 29 • 10:00 AM – Sunday, Jul. 9 • 5:00 PM
National Mall
The Church has been invited to host a booth at the Smithsonian FolkLife Festival on the National Mall over the ten days from June 29-July 4 and July 6-9. We are working with FamilySearch in Salt Lake to provide a mini RootsTech-like opportunity and both RootsTech and FamilySearch departments in Salt Lake have prepared a great interactive experience for expected visitors numbering over half a million people. One of our main tasks will be to provide 6-7 volunteers from 10:30 AM to 2:30 PM and again from 2:00-6:00 PM (a total of 12-14) each day. We are looking for individuals who can help run pre-planned activities related to our “uniting families” theme and winsomely answer questions about the Church. This is a non-proselyting event, and everyone from older teens on up are welcome to sign up. Volunteer slots are expected to fill up quickly and the event begins on June 29th. The sign-up link is listed below and the volunteer flyer is attached. The flyer includes a QR code also for people to access the SignUp Genius. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c054aacab22a1fe3-smithsonian#/ Volunteers who sign up will receive further information about the best way to travel to the event site on the day they serve, a reminder of things to bring (just warm weather basics: hat, water, etc.) and some simple instructions.
