The Mormon Battalion Historic Site located in Old Town San Diego will be honoring selected Army veterans as honorary members of the Mormon Battalion for their faith, service, and sacrifice in defending liberty as part of the Mormon Battalion’s Flag Day Celebration. The Mormon Battalion Historic Site represents San Diego’s first United States military unit garrisoned in San Diego – The Mormon Battalion, U.S. Army of the West. The four honorees this year are: Bill Ridenour, a WWII veteran, and his wife Rosie (both 101); Dan Foster, Vietnam veteran; and Carlos Taitano, a Gulf War veteran.
The honor ceremony will feature the Marine Band San Diego. Public is welcome. The event is free. Cake and ice cream will be served.
