What You Can Expect
If you're attending church for the first time, you may be a bit nervous. No worries; we're here for you! Here's what you can expect out of your visit.
Learn MoreJoin us on Saturday, April 5th and Sunday April 6th for General Conference. General Conference consists of five sessions which are broadcast at 10:00 am and 2:00 pm both days and also at 6:00 pm on Saturday evening. All sessions are streamed live on the live events page of ChurchofJesusChrist.org. These sessions provide an opportunity to hear from the prophet, apostles and other general church leaders. Sessions are translated into multiple languages, including Spanish. General Conference takes the place of the typical Sunday meetings on April 6th.
Join us on Saturday, April 12th and Sunday, April 13th for Stake Conference. Stake Conference consists of two meetings which are held in the Montrose building at 1521 S. Hillcrest Dr. and is broadcast to outlying buildings in Cedaredge, Paonia, Gunnison and Naturita. The Saturday meeting is held at 7:00pm and is for adults. The Sunday meeting is for everyone and is held at 10:00 am. These meetings provide an opportunity to hear from local church leaders. Meetings are translated into Spanish. These meetings take the place of the typical Sunday meetings on April 13th.
In addition to Stake Conference meetings, on Palm Sunday, April 13th, 2024 there will be an Easter Musical Celebration "Greater Love" held at 1521 S. Hillcrest, Montrose beginning at 2:00 pm.
On Easter Sunday, April 20, 2025 only Sacrament meeting will be held in each of the buildings.

Yes. Many of our members come to church by themselves each week. But if you'd like someone to attend with you the first time, you can sign up here!
There's no requirement to participate. On your first Sunday, you can sit back and just enjoy the service. If you want to participate by taking the sacrament or responding to questions, you're welcome to. Do whatever feels comfortable to you.
You can always count on one main meeting where we take the sacrament to remember the Savior, followed by classes separated by age groups or general interests.
Please wear whatever attire you feel comfortable wearing. In general, attendees wear "Sunday best," which could include button-down shirts, ties, slacks, skirts, and dresses.

Learn MoreAttending church each Sunday is a respite from fast-paced daily living. Attend church at 511 Oak Avenue to reflect, worship God, strengthen your spiritual connections, and focus on Jesus. Worship with a community of people who are trying to be more Christlike and learn from each other. There are two meetings in a two hour time. The main meeting is called sacrament meeting. This meeting consists of songs, prayers, and sermons (or “talks”) given by different members of the congregation and take the sacrament (or Communion). In addition to sacrament meeting, there are a variety of other classes for both children and adults. There’s something for everyone from 18 months old and up! Each meet together for a lesson and discussion that are based on a different section of scripture each week.
